Actualités : Good plans from the 2024 team
JADE, reception manager
The beach: the American beach for its intimate setting. It is located at the entrance to Cap-Ferret, on the Bassin side.
A local festival: the festive cabins in Andernos. The only winter festival, it takes place every year at the beginning of December in the oyster port of Andernos. On the program, tasting oysters and white wine in a good mood.
An oyster tasting: La Conche in the village of Jacquets on the peninsula. Small village away from the main road, you will avoid the crowds and be “cut off from the world”.
Advice for vacationers: Bring mosquito repellent. And yes, they are indeed present in our region! The basin being a marshy area, it is a suitable place for them but the quantity will depend on the season and the weather.
A must-see experience: A sunset picnic by the ocean. Prepare your basket and go enjoy this magical moment, with your feet in the white sand.
MARC, technical manager
The beach: La Pointe aux Chevaux on between the villages of Petit-Piquey and Grand-Piquey. Beautiful Bassin beach, you can only swim there at high tide.
A local festival: the summer festival in Claouey for its family atmosphere.
An oyster tasting: at Boulan in Cap-Ferret. Located in the oyster district, reservations are recommended as it is a popular address.
Advice for vacationers: Always favor cycle paths when you take your bikes. The trail network is large and allows you to go wherever you want in complete safety.
An unmissable experience: the ascent of the Dune du Pilat, the largest dune in Europe, is a must if you discover the Arcachon basin.
CHRIS, technical agent
The beach: Jenny beach in Porge. 15 minutes from the campsite, this beach is considered the only naturist beach in the area.
A local festival: the Porge night market, every Saturday evening in high season. There you will find a large choice of food trucks to eat in a festive atmosphere.
An oyster tasting: at TT in Claouey, the last cabin at the end of the oyster port, the view is pleasant and peaceful.
Advice to vacationers: Respect the nature of the Arcachon Basin. Indeed, our territory being exceptional but also fragile, it is important that people passing through limit their impact with simple but effective actions: do not throw your rubbish in nature, favor gentle mobility, respect the dunes by using only the marked access…
An unmissable experience: a walk in the pine forest, smelling the smell of resin when it's hot or going in search of "pine nuts"...
SOPHIE, housekeeping manager
The beach: Longarisse beach at Lake Lacanau. A quiet, family-friendly and shady beach, which is pleasant in hot weather.
A local festival: the Arès Oyster Festival which takes place every year the week of 08/15.
An oyster tasting: La Bonne Franquette in Claouey, very kind people and a breathtaking view of the Basin.
Advice for vacationers: in July/August, leave around 9:00 a.m. if you want to go to Cap-Ferret because if you wait too long, you risk getting into traffic jams (only one road goes down the peninsula).
An unmissable experience: a parachute jump from Carcans, a 360° view of the ocean and the Arcachon Bay.
ALEXANDRE, manager
The beach: The Dead Cow. It is one of the many beaches of Truc Vert and recognized as a good surfing spot.
A local festival: the rural festival in Biganos. For its typical side, which will make you discover the know-how and traditions of yesteryear.
An oyster tasting: the Reveleau cabin located in the village of Canon, in the heart of the oyster district.
Advice to vacationers: Listen carefully and follow the instructions of the MNS on the beaches. Indeed, we are not on the Mediterranean and the ocean can be dangerous with its currents. MNS ensures safe swimming.
An unmissable experience: A surf lesson at sunrise. So yes, you have to get up early but you will have the beach to yourself and exceptional colors that you only find at this time of day.
BENEDICTE, director
The beach: Petit Crohot beach. North of Grand Crohot beach, it is less crowded than the central beach.
A local festival: the village festival of Herbe. It's the last of the summer, with a small funfair and fireworks on the water on Sunday evening.
An oyster tasting: Hortense's cabin in Cap-Ferret. Located just after the oyster village and opposite Mimbeau, you will have a breathtaking view of the Pilat dune.
Advice for vacationers: Favor soft mobility. Indeed, and especially in July-August, there are a lot of people on the road. The Arcachon basin has 220km of cycle paths and this passes right in front of the campsite.
An unmissable experience: the Banc d'Arguin. A strip of sand, opposite the Pilat dune, you can only get there by boat. Classified as a nature reserve, dogs are prohibited and the entire bench is not accessible.
